Sheet Game/ Name Game

A great icebreaker, especially for an event when you have a lot of people who don't know each other, is the Sheet Game. It would make more sense to call it the Name Game... but that would just give the game away too soon. I first heard of this game while we were serving at Fraser Valley Alliance Church in Delta, BC.

Materials: A sheet (not see-through) - such as a blanket or a thicker table cloth.

- First, split your group into two teams.

- Get each person to introduce themselves in front of the whole group (you could also ask them another question (like - what is their favorite colour or their age) to help them remember).

- Get two volunteers to hold the sheet up with the groups sitting on either side of the sheet.

- One person from each group has to sit right in front of the sheet.

- The volunteers count to three and drop the sheet - when the two people see each other they have to call out the name of the person sitting right in front of them. Whoever gets the right name first gets a point.

- Each person should get a chance to sit behind the sheet and be the "challenger". There should only be one person at a time. They can repeat though if they want - this make it more challenging.

- The team with the most points wins.

The youth at FVAC always had fun playing this game. Even though you've known the person sitting in front of you for a long time - you just forget under pressure and sometimes say the silliest things.
