Movie Game (Charades)
Last week Matt was trying to come up with a game for the first youth night of 2010. He thought of this very simple idea that the kids had a lot of fun with.
- Matt took a list of hit movies that everyone (youth) would know from 2009 and made a powerpoint with all the movie posters.
- We divided the youth into however many groups you want depending on the size of your group. In our case we had 10 people per group and I think that gave us about 10 or so groups.
- Matt asked each group to come up with a group name (you could skip this if you want... but it just gave everyone an opportunity to talk and see who was in their team before the actual game) and asked for one representative to come up and tell everyone their group name. Once they game their group name, that representative got a piece of paper with a name of a movie.
- Each group was given about 2 minutes to prepare a skit with out without words (your choice) acting out a scene from the movie. The more creative the better.
- Randomly choose groups to come up one at a time to do their skit. While the current group is acting, the other groups have a chance to earn points by raising their hands to guess the movie. If they guess incorrectly, other groups still have a chance to guess... when the correct movie is said, you can flash the movie poster on the powerpoint.
- The group that has the most points at the end of the game wins.
If you don't have a lot of groups, each group can do 2 or 3 movies each, depending on how many movies you had listed.
Hope you have fun playing this very simple and easy, yet fun game!
