Pie Auction

One of the things that the youth do at our church every year to raise funds for those needing help to go to the yearly youth conference is having a Pie Auction. This is also an opportunity for those who love to make pies to show us their stuff!

Some things you will need before the Pie Auction:

- We usually ask the congregation several weeks in advance to sign up if they are interested in making a pie that they would like to donate.

- An appropriate volunteer to be our pie auctioneer.

- Advertising for the pie auction two weeks and the week before. This can be done however your church usually advertises for it's events (announcements from the pulpit, posters, powerpoint slides, bulletin announcements).

Ask your pie-maker extraordinaires to bring the pies before the service. When you are to have your auction, let your auctioneer start the bidding one pie at a time. You can even have some of the youth volunteer to hold the pie as it gets auctioned. You will be surprised at how much some people will bid for a pie to help support the youth! Just a note, if possible, try not to have the auction in the sanctuary for two reasons - stains and some people might not approve of having a money making activity (despite being a fundraiser) in a place where worship is held.

Just for some fun.... two years ago, the bidding went up really high when they auctioned a chance to throw one of the pies at the Youth Pastor! This was a lot of fun and he was a good sport :)
